Singer, bassist, songwriter, composer and journalist. Winner of the Polityka’s Passport Award, Fryderyk Award and the Grzegorz Ciechowski Award. Former frontman of the band Très.B and solo project Misia Ff. She won the Golden Record for her work with Wojtek Mazolewski’s quintet.
She has played several hundred concerts all over Europe and Japan, at such festivals as: The Great Escape, Liverpool Soundcity, Tallin Music Week, Europavox, MIDEM and many others. On January 25, 2019, she released her new album “Co przyjdzie?” (Agora) , which is already receiving excellent reviews from Polish critics:
“Rough but delicate guitars, minimalistic keyboards and strings, internally pulsating rhythm, practically no drums and beautiful and, of course, conscious voice of Misia create an album which is a lyrical chronicle of a small apocalypse. Misia Furtak joins PJ Harvey, Feist and Cat Power.” – Maciej Ulewicz, Vogue.pl;
“There is power combined with subtlety on this album, but most of all it is very intriguing, one of those albums that don’t let go.” – Mirosław Pęczak, Polityka weekly;
“Misia … meanders with her voice, jumps around on sounds, vocalises in her own characteristic way. … Her lyrics are real gems. It seems that 2018 is not over yet, and we already have a strong candidate for the list of the best records… of next year.” – Michał Wieczorek, “Gazeta Magnetofonowa”.
The latest single promoting the album is “Pamięć”.
“This is a record about change. Both the violent ones and those unfolding slowly. About the fear of them and their irreversibility, the need to ask questions, the desire to postpone the catastrophe, the attempt to build lifeboats and the hope that we won’t need them after all”, says Misia Furtak about her latest album.
During her shows, she is accompanied by an excellent line-up: co-author of three compositions on “Co przyjdzie” and one half of the duo tęskno – Hania Rani (piano, vocal) and clarinetist – Michalina Bieńko. Misia Furtak will perform at the 11th edition of the International Festival of Music Producers and Sound Designers Soundedit. The show will take place at Wytwórnia club (ul. Łąkowa 29, Łódź) on 26 October 2019 (Saturday).
