The Man With The Golden Ear Award for "outstanding achievements in the field of music production"

It took many years for Mick Harvey to return to the project of translating Serge Gainsbourg’s works into English. After the release of “Delirium Tremens” it was time for the finale of the series – “Intoxicated Women”. The artist will perform at the 11th edition of the International Festival of Music Producers Soundedit at his only show in Poland in 2019. The Australian will also receive the “Man with the Golden Ear” award.

The album “Intoxicated Women” contains many duets and songs written by Gainsbourg for artists such as: France Galle, Juliette Greco and Brigitte Bardot, and it begins with a stunning version of “Je T’aime (Moi non plus)”, entitled “Ich Liebe Dich (Ich Dich Auch Nicht)”. The album, or rather volume 4 of Gainsbourg’s poetry closes with the song “Cargo Cult” from the classic album “Melody Nelson”. This latest album from the Australian has been released by the cult label Mute Records. His albums of Gainsbourg’s songs have received only positive reviews in the trade press. The Guardian described them as “revelation and joy.”

Mick Harvey will perform at the 11th edition of the International Festival of Music Producers Soundedit at his only show this year in Poland. His performance will precede the “Man with the Golden Ear” Awards ceremony. This year, he will also get the award for “Lifetime Achievements in Music Production”.

Harvey is an Australian multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer.  He performed with such bands as: Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Crime And The City Solution, The Birthday Party and The Boys Next Door. He produced recordings for PJ Harvey, Nick Cave, Rowland S. Howard and Anita Lane.

“After the initial recordings for “Delirium Tremens”, co-producer JP Shilo and I continued to search for duets and women’s songs written by Serge Gainsbourg. Many of them were a real discovery for me, many I have never heard before. We also found some that were on TV and also recorded our versions on “Intoxicated Women””, Mick Harvey recalls work on the album.

Works on albums presenting the works of the French poet took many years. The last two albums were started in 2015. The songs were recorded in Australia and Germany. The final shape of “Delirium Tremens” and “Intoxicated Women” was supervised by producers Toby Dammit (who recorded with The Stooges, Residents) and Bertrand Burgalat (from French label Tricatel). Musically, Harvey was supported by such artists as Glenn Lewis on bass and Hugo Cran on drums.

Mick Harvey will perform in Wytwórnia Club in Łódź on October 25th (Saturday) as part of the 11th edition of the International Festival of Music Producers and Sound Designers
