Jules Maxwell – Irish multi-instrumentalist, composer and songwriter, plays keyboards in Australian band Dead Can Dance. In May 2021, he released the album “Burn” with Lisa Gerrard.
His two solo albums on Archangelo Recordings, “Nocturnes” and “Cycles”, feature beautiful, melancholic instrumental music created in collaboration with the acclaimed British dance company Vincent Dance Theatre. In 2018, he composed songs for the album “BooCheeMish” by the Bulgarian choir The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices recording for 4AD. He writes and composes music for theatre productions, and in 2019 his debut opera “The Lost Thing” was presented by the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. He also composed the music for the album “Terra Mãe” by Portuguese fado singer Lina Rodrigues.
Lina Rodrigues – few voices resonate more deeply and authentically than LINA_’s. She has always been an admirer of Amália’s work, and with the Lina_Raül Refree project she has proven herself to be one of her best interpreters. Dramaturgy and ingenuity are the hallmarks of Lina’s singing.
She started singing at the age of ten in the Círculo Portuense de Ópera, studied vocal performance and then fell in love with fado. She has recorded two albums for Sony Music, through which she has ensured her growth and broadened her musical horizons. Her vocal expression has been described as sensual, pulsating, vibrant and stirring. The artist has won many international awards and recognitions. Lina_ has just released her album “Fado Camões”, a work acclaimed by national and international critics. The album presents the work of one of Portugal’s best-known poets, Luís Vaz de Camões. The album was produced by British Justin Adams (Robert Plant – Led Zeppelin, Tinariwen, Souad Massi), with arrangements by John Baggott (Massive Attack and Portishead). “Only a perfect voice can perform perfect poetry,” one reviewer wrote of Lina’s interpretations.
The duo Jules Maxwell and Lina_ will appear on stage (Radio Łódź, ul. Narutowicza 130) on 28 October (Monday) at 7pm during the 16th edition of the Soundedit International Festival of Music Producers and Sound Designers.
