Jan Borysewicz

...

The Man With The Golden Ear Award for "outstanding achievements in the field of production and exceptional musical sensitivity"

He was born in 1955 in Wrocław. He’s a self-taught musician, which didn’t prevent him from becoming a professional artist. Above all, he is known as a guitarist, but at first he wanted to be a drummer. However, he is actually a multi-instrumentalist. He also creates as a singer, composer and songwriter. He is the co-founder and leader of Lady Pank.

He has been playing guitar since 1970, and made his official debut in 1972 in the band Nurt. Then he performed with: Super Pakt, Apokalipsa (Irek Dudek’s band) and the duo Katia & Roman. In 1978 he accepted the offer to play with Budka Suflera. For the band, he composed, among others, the hit “Nie wierz nigdy kobiecie”. Since the recording (like other Borysewicz’s compositions) were not released on any of Budka Suflera’s albums, the musician left the group. He rejected Perfect’s offer to start his own band.

With Andrzej Mogielnicki he wrote the song “Mała Lady Punk”, and the band managed to recruit the vocalist Janusz Panasewicz and the musicians of Oddział Zamknięty. That’s how Lady Pank came into being. The group has released over twenty albums, recorded dozens of well-known hits, and for nearly forty years of its existence has played and continues to play thousands of concerts.

Borysewicz has recorded with leading Polish musicians and bands. Tadeusz Nalepa, Obywatel G.C., Dariusz Kozakiewicz, Paweł Kukiz, Piotr Cugowski, Fotoness, Urszula, Video, Jacek Skubikowski, Edyta Bartosiewicz, Robert Mączyński, Titus, Robert Gawliński, Krzysztof Krawczyk, Izabela Trojanowska, Rafał Brzozowski, Urszula Rembalska, Ewa Bem, Anna Wyszkoni, Red Lips – these are just a few of them.

The artist has initiated many projects, albums and recordings. He supports young performers and runs the Jan Borysewicz Academy Foundation. As Jan Bo he recorded five solo albums. In total, he has performed on over thirty albums of other artists.

Jan Borysewicz and Lady Pank will perform at the 11th International Festival of Music Producers and Sound Designers Soundedit. The show will take place at Wytwórnia club (ul. Łąkowa 29, Łódź) on 27 October 2019 (Sunday). Before the concert, Jan Borysewicz will receive the “Man with a Golden Ear” award for “Lifetime Achievements in Music Production and Particular Sensitivity to Music”.
