Budgie – The Golden Ear Award 2025

Budgie is an artist-institution—a musician, arranger, and producer whose drumming style defined the sound of an entire era. From the pioneering Big in Japan, through The Slits, to the iconic Siouxsie and The Banshees and The Creatures – his drums were the rhythmic heart of post-punk. He was described as "one of the drummers who defined the heavily mythologised scene of the late 1970s and early 1980s." This statement is true, but it doesn’t tell the entire story. Budgie is more than just a technician; he is an artist with extraordinary intuition. This is why he will receive "The Golden Ear Award" at the 17th edition of the Soundedit Festival, in recognition of his exceptional musical sensitivity.

Henryk Kuźniak – The Golden Ear Award 2025

If you grew up in Poland, you know his music by heart. Henryk Kuźniak is a composer who created the soundtrack to the Polish imagination. His notes built tension in the cult crime films "Vabank" and "Vabank II". His melodies brought joy to Stanisław Bareja's comedies. Henryk Kuźniak is a master of mood, a man who could tell a whole story with just a few notes. It is for this unique ability to paint emotions with sound that he will receive "The Golden Ear Award" for Exceptional Musical Sensitivity.
