MARC ALMOND: THE VOICE OF SOFT CELL. FOUR DECADES SOLO.

MAMBAS, BREL AND THE RETURN

Since 1984 he has walked his own path. Marc and the Mambas. Chanson. Jacques Brel - the artist's estate named Marc the greatest living interpreter of his songs. A duet with Gene Pitney: Something's Gotten Hold of My Heart, number one in the UK for five weeks. In 2004 he had to relearn how to sing after a motorcycle accident and two weeks in a coma. Today he sings better than ever.

THIRD VISIT TO ŁÓDŹ. FIRST WITHOUT SOFT CELL.

He appeared at Soundedit twice - in 2013 and 2021. Although Dave Ball passed away in October 2025, they managed to record one final Soft Cell album, „Danceteria”, released right now. Marc Almond returns to Soundedit and closes a chapter that began back in 1979.

WOLFGANG FLÜR: THE MAN WHO WAS A KRAFTWERK ROBOT.

Percussionist. Architect of rhythm. One of four musicians who built the sound on which all electronic music of the last fifty years stands. Autobahn. Trans-Europe Express. The Model. The Robots. Computer World. As a member of Kraftwerk from 1973 to 1987 he helped define techno, synth-pop and the entire landscape of contemporary dance music. In 2021 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

AFTER KRAFTWERK: THE MAN, NOT THE HOLOGRAM.

He’s been creating his own shows for years. His album Times is a collaboration that once seemed impossible: Boris Blank (Yello), Peter Hook (Joy Division / New Order), Thomas Bangalter (Daft Punk), Juan Atkins — the godfather of Detroit techno — andEmil Schult. His autobiography, “I Was a Robot,” has sold tens of thousands of copies. Fifty years after the release of Autobahn, Flür is still behind the wheel.

THE WOLFGANG PRESS: THEY CHOOSE ŁÓDŹ. AGAIN.

Bass. Guitar. Keys. A Girl Like You. King of Soul. Cut the Tree. Kansas. Pioneers from 4AD - the label that almost single-handedly defined the dark art-punk of the late 70s and early 80s, stretching through to the synth-heavy funk-pop of the 90s. They have just released „Bird Dog” on Downwards Records - their first album in nearly three decades.

After almost 30 years of absence they returned in 2024 with „A 2nd Shape”. For its world premiere they chose Soundedit in Łódź and delivered one of the most important concerts of that year. The core of the band remains Michael Allen and Andrew Gray.

KRESY: NEW ŁÓDŹ. NEW NOISE.

Voice. Guitars. Bass. Drums. Trumpet. Art rock meets post-punk, but neither term tells the whole story. Kresy have been playing together since late 2022. The band consists of Jan Kępiński, Jerzy Kolasa, Hubert Grygiel, Igor Wasiński and Oliwier Sobieszek. Five musicians, one direction: beyond the boundaries of obvious genres.

TWO EPs. NOT A SINGLE BOX.

They have released “Lumer” and “Kolejny Miękki Sen” through Peleton Records and reached the final of Gazeta Wyborcza’s “Sanki” competition. Their music combines instrumental ambition with expressive vocals and a wall of hypnotic, contemporary noise. It carries the tension of the city, the freedom of experimentation and the energy of a band that understands itself best onstage.

NEW GENS MUSIC. THE WIN. THE BIG STAGE.

Kresy won the New Gens Music competition, beating 23 qualifying acts. The jury recognised their musicianship, stage energy and distinctive musical language. The prize includes a performance on Soundedit’s main stage, the recording and production of a new EP at the Henryk Debich Studio of Radio Łódź, and a support slot for Mery Spolsky.

On 24 October, Kresy will perform at Klub Wytwórnia on the same night as The Wolfgang Press, Wolfgang Flür and Marc Almond. A new generation of the Łódź music scene enters the Soundedit ’26 programme.

LECH JANERKA – “ŚPIJ, ŚPIJ INTELIGENCIE” (“SLEEP, SLEEP, YOU INTELLECTUAL”)

The first feature-length documentary about a legend of the Polish music scene. The screening is part of Soundedit ’26 — the festival’s Great Eighteenth Edition.

The film is a journey between waking and dreaming through the life of one of the most original figures in Polish music. Rather than offering a conventional biography, it unfolds as a poetic story in which real places merge with imagined ones.

Janerka himself serves as the narrator. The only other person adding to his story is his wife, Bożena. Their voices guide the viewer through a world built from sounds, words and images — combining archive footage, concert excerpts and animations inspired by the artist’s work.

The film revisits the phenomenon of Klaus Mitffoch, whose debut album is regarded as one of the most important records in the history of Polish rock. It also follows Janerka’s solo career — ten albums and two volumes of poetry. Particular attention is given to his return after an 18-year break with “Gipsowy odlew falsifikatu” (2023), an album honoured with five Fryderyk Awards.
