International Festival of Music Producers and Sound Designers Soundedit continues to surprise. This time, as part of a series of events accompanying the Festival, the legendary band Bauhaus comes to Poland for the first time.
Daniel Ash (guitar), David J. (bass), Kevin Haskins (drums) and Peter Murphy (vocals) are the four musicians who founded Bauhaus in 1978. This is the original line-up that will perform in Progresja Club (Fort Wola 22, Warsaw). The concert will take place on Tuesday, June 30th at 7 pm.
The Brits have only released five studio albums and three live albums, but each has left its mark on the history of rock music. Such bands as Interpol, Einstürzende Neubauten, Pearl Jam, Ministry, Guns’N’Roses, Korn, White Zombie or Nine Inch Nails admit to their fascination and inspiration from Bauhaus’ works. Their first single “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” (1979) already made them stand out from the debuts at the time and is still perceived today as a precursor of gothic rock.
This truly flagship Bauhaus piece has had a considerable impact on many other musicians and has been covered numerous times. Among others, by Until December (1986), The Electric Hellfire Club (1996), Opera IX (2000), Sepultura (2001), Nouvelle Vague (2006), Chris Cornell (2007), Nine Inch Nails (2009).), Trent Reznor with Peter Murphy (2013), Massive Attack (2013), David J. with Jill Tracy (2013), Chvrches (2014), Dead Cross (2017), The Damned (2019).
Due to the conflicts and misunderstandings that the band had to deal with after the album “Burning from the Inside” (1983), it was dissolved. The musicians have taken up solo careers and have rarely performed together under the Bauhaus banner. In 2008, fans were surprised by their album “Go Away White”, which, however, was not promoted with any shows. The artists informed the media that under the influence of an incident (its character was never revealed) Bauhaus came to a definitive end. In 2019, the quartet announced several joint concerts in the USA, Mexico and Europe.
So far, Bauhaus musicians have been successfully invited to the Soundedit Festival in Łódź. In 2012, the bassist David J. performed, followed in 2016 by the vocalist Peter Murphy. The Warsaw performance of the full and original line-up will therefore be an unprecedented event.
Tickets to the Bauhaus concert are available in the chains: Media Markt, Saturn and online at bilety24.pl, ticketmaster.pl, progresja.com and goout.pl. The second batch of tickets for the concert is already on sale. The ticket costs 199 PLN.
