Morcheeba return with their first new album in over five years. The British trip-hop pioneers have released 8 albums that have sold in excess of 10 million records in their career. Blaze Away, their positivity-packed ninth album, marks both a fresh start in its organic approach and a return to the joyous genre-mashing of their early days. There was no template for its ten, extraordinary songs, no self-imposed limits on style, no themes to be adhered to or rules in place to break.

We brought back a lot of the influences of early Morcheeba records – from ‘50s blues, ‘60s psychedelic rock and ‘70s dub reggae to ‘80s electro and ‘90s hip hop. Whatever felt right, we went with” says producer Ross Godfrey.

Blaze Away will be released 1st June 2018 via the band’s imprint Fly Algaric Records, with label services provided by Kartel Music Group.

Alongside standout lead track ’Never Undo’ – a sublime downbeat electronic pop track, blending Skye Edwards sultry, charismatic vocals with Godrey’s signature grooves –  the album has some notable features and collaborations. Roots Manuva guests on title track ‘Blaze Away’, where he cuts straight to the chase a with raw and forthright delivery laden with infectious grooves.  French star Benjamin Biolay duets with Skye on the sensual ‘Paris Sur Mer’; a stream-of-consciousness fantasy about Paris.  ‘Summertime’ a breezy pop track with a psychedelic guitar edge for which Lambchop’s Kurt Wagner co-wrote the lyrics.  There’s even a brass section from Zion Train who played on their landmark ‘90s album Big Calm and guest on the glorious ‘Love Dub’.

Morcheeba’s global success is no surprise. Their melting pot sound has been border-hopping ever since the London-based band emerged from the mid-’90s trip hop scene that made them a household name.  They’re about to embark on their biggest world tour taking in headline shows and festivals playing classics and debuting new tracks from their upcoming record to the delight of their global fan base.

20 years in, it’s never taken us longer to tour the world. We’re still finding fans in places we’ve never played who’ve waited all this time to see us, or only recently discovered our music – It’s amazing” says Skye.

Morcheeba will perform at the 10th anniversary edition of Soundedit Festival in Lodz, Poland on Friday the 26th of October.
